“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

The Hebrew word translated as “know” is yada, which implies complete, intimate, relational knowledge. God isn’t just aware of his plans for you, he is intimate with them! They are like treasures in his heart.

It gets even better! In the Hebrew way of thinking, a person’s thoughts were regarded as a part of him/her, in distinct contrast to the Greek (Hellenistic) way of regarding thoughts as somehow separate from the thinker and even of higher value. To the Hebrew, God’s declaration regarding his plans was also a declaration of his nature. His plans for you are a part of him!
